Laser safety windows
Laser protection windows are used for viewing inside laser machines or installations or where unsupervised laser processes or applications are performed. Typical examples are fairings, cabins and enclosures. But also for viewing from outside laboratories and rooms where every researcher or operator wears laser safety goggles.
At ProCareLight we are laser safety experts, first and foremost. That was our origin as a company. We know how to calculate the risks of each laser and recommend the most suitable protection. Neither the cheapest, nor the most protective, nor the one with the highest visible light transmission (VLT), nor, nor, nor, nor, but the most suitable one for each situation. We can inform you of the level D LB, I LB, R LB or M LB (EN207 standard), or better the level D AB, I AB, R AB, M AB (EN 12254 standard) required in each case.
Frankly, can other window retailers give you this value? All PCL consultants and salespersons are LSO – Laser Safety Officers, I don't know in other places.
Here you can find the different models available, in full or grouped by the most common ranges:
- complete list of laser safety and protection windows
- laser safety windows: machine vision and visible
- laser safety windows: blue 450 nm
- laser safety goggles: 1 micron (900 - 1100 nm: diode, fiber, disk, YAG)
- laser safety goggles: Nd:YAG and harmonics: 1064, 532, 355, 266 nm
- laser safety windows: CO2
- laser protection film: to adhere to existing windows
And please remember that each window protects:
- at a certain level of power and energy
- for certain wavelengths
- for certain emission modes (continuous, pulsed and with a certain pulse duration).
So "I want protection windows for a fiber laser" is no good. Every window is different and has its own little heart.
Also remember that in Europe laser safety windows must be EN 12254 or else EN 207 certified.
But remember that the LBn protection of EN 207 is not the same as the ABn of EN 12254. In EN207 the material must withstand the certified radiation for 5 seconds while in EN12254 it must do so for 100 seconds. Call me a coward but I would rather be behind a D AB6 window than behind a D LB6, to give an example.
I'm sure you can find very cheap windows on the web, but do they provide the necessary protection? In addition, having CE marking is not enough. In many cases it will not even be the European marking but "China Export".
We propose laser protection windows in both plastic and glass materials. The plastic ones are easy to scratch but beware that if the glass ones have a dielectric coating, this can also be scratched, and the protection will be largely lost.
For plastic windows any size is possible (within an order) but glass windows are normally limited to 100 x 200 and 210 x 297 mm (DIN A4).
The glass offers, in general, greater protection and better visibility (VLT), always depending on the lambdas covered.
As laser safety experts, at PCL we know the right products better than anyone else and we are the distributors of leading manufacturers of PPE and laser protection such as Protect Laserschutz, Laservision or Univet. We have the best catalog to be able to offer you what you really need.
