Femtosecond lasers
We offer a wide range of femtosecond (fs) lasers for research applications (R&D) and laboratory use as well as for industrial integration as OEM.
And what a tiny little thing a femtosecond is (1 fs = 10-15 s) and how good it is to avoid for example that heat affected zone becomes large in a cutting or ablation process, for example.
Logically the energy of each pulse will be low compared to that of a picosecond or nanosecond laser. But the number of pulses emitted in a burst (or train) of pulses can make the process much more efficient than CW or larger pulses lasers.
Each application has its requirements, and each type of laser has its most advantageous uses. Like (almost) everything in life.

PCL is pleased to be the distributor of femtosecond expert Fluence Technology: ultrafast lasers that simply work.
And why Fluence fs lasers?
- all-fiber design: all our laser systems maximize use of the fiber design and free-space optics is avoided wherever possible. Our 1030 nm ultrafast oscillator, the most crucial part of every femtosecond laser, is built in all-fiber technology that uses passive interference for modelocking and eliminates degradable components such as SESAM. The robustness of this approach allows our lasers to achieve unprecedented stability and environmental resilience.
- wide temperature range: most of our lasers and components are tested in an environmental chamber as they run to ensure they work exceptionally well in a very wide range of temperatures. The acceptable ambient temperature spans from 15°C to 50°C, while some elements were tested to operate from -10ºC to 100°C, always maintaining their operational parameters.
- shock immunity: we test our systems on a vibrational platform as they run. Our core product (the 1030 nm femtosecond oscillator) was tested to operate at accelerations as high as 40g. The power and repetition rate were always rock solid throughout the test.
- advanced diagnostic: our fs lasers are tested using state‑of‑the‑art diagnostics equipment. We offer the same tools to our customers: compact Real‑time Autocorrelator and Spectral Phase Interferometer.
Here you can also see our femtosecond (and picosecond) supercontinuum (SC) lasers.
Don't forget that if you have or need a laser, you may very well need our PCL services:
