
Supercontinuum Lasers
You could say that supercontinuum lasers are superlasers. Some may say that they do not have much average power but. who is able to be laser here and hundreds of nanometers beyond at the same time?
A supercontinuum laser basically consists of a monochromatic and pulsed pump with high energy (whatever it means) that by nonlinear phenomena widens, and a lot, spectrally the pump signal. These nonlinear phenomena are typically generated in photonic crystal fibers. If they are generated in photonic integrated circuits (PIC), as since more recently, the size and energy consumed by the laser can be greatly limited.
This results in coherent, laser-type, emission over a very wide spectral range and at the same time. Take that! They are also called white or wideband lasers because they are not monochromatic.

In combination with our FWS-Poly-Red tunable filters, these supercontinuum lasers are ideal to generate a tunable laser (TLS) with a large wavelength range.
Certainly these lasers aren’t cheap but you may build cost-effective solutions for the above applications and many others.
SUPERCONTINUUM PICOSECOND LASERS

SUPERCONTINUUM FEMTOSECOND LASERS
We are the distributors of SuperLight Photonics in Portugal and Spain.
SuperLight Photonics’ unique and patented PAD – Patterned Alternating Dispersion ™ technology is leveraged, applying non-linear pulse compression in a highly efficient way. The resulting 20-25 fs pulses are obtained with substantially lower pulse energy than traditionally needed for such pulse compression.
Based on a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) platform, the size and weight are substantially reduced compared to similar lasers, making them portable (battery operated even) for easy handling and sharing across laboratories and ideal for OEM industrial integration.
